Drop in Practice
Course history
MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) is the classic course developed in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the world-famous University of Massachusetts Stress Reduction Clinic and it is now taught all over the world. The course helps people to reduce stress and anxiety and is clinically proven to support positive change. Joining an MBSR course and participating fully has been scientifically researched to show it can enhance happiness, well-being and quality of life. From this original course many other mindfulness based interventions have been developed, such as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which is now available on the NHS, to prevent relapse in depression and ‘.b’ which is now introduced in schools.

Mindful Herts facilitates the original course, with the addition of some new simple modern techniques.

The course cost is £345 per person. This covers all 8 sessions, the retreat day, 1 individual 'Awareness Coaching' session, the course handbook and 7 meditations on a USB (4 MBSR recordings with guidance from Jon Kabat-Zinn and 3 produced by Mindful Herts). Refreshments and a fully catered vegetarian lunch on the retreat day will be provided by
